What does the app do that I couldn't do with a spreadsheet and patience?

Asked in good faith. I've traded for a long time without automation and I'd like to hear the honest version rather than the marketing one, because I'll find out either way.

The honest version: if your strategy is slow, discretionary and you've been executing it consistently for years, the gain is smaller than our marketing would suggest. What you'd get is consistency of execution and a record you can analyze. The trades you'd have skipped because you were busy, and the ability to answer "does this actually work" with data rather than memory. What you would **not** get is an edge. The software executes a strategy; it doesn't supply one, and someone with your experience is more likely to be the source of the edge than anything we ship.

That's a better answer than I expected and it's the reason I'll try it.

Vendor admitting their product doesn't supply an edge. Noted, and appreciated.

The thing a spreadsheet never caught me doing was the 11pm revenge entry I'd forget to log. Automation didn't make me smarter, it just made my dumb decisions show up in a file where I couldn't pretend they didn't happen.

Two things a spreadsheet genuinely can't do well, in my experience: 1) timestamp accuracy — my manual logs always drifted toward what I remembered doing, not what I did. 2) consistent sizing across a long sample. And one warning: having a clean record makes it very tempting to start tuning rules on that record until they fit it perfectly. That's the same overfitting trap as any backtest, just slower.

for me it's mostly the sleep thing lol. crypto doesn't care that i'm unconscious, so having rules that run without me is the whole point. if you only trade US hours the case is way thinner.

Fair question and I think TraderWe's answer covers most of it. The one thing I'd add: it isn't the executing so much as the *not* executing. My rules say no entry outside my window, and I used to bend that maybe twice a month with a good story each time. Those bends were where my worst months came from. A spreadsheet records the bend, it doesn't stop it. Whether that's worth anything to you depends entirely on whether you actually bend.
