What happens to my strategies and data if my license lapses?

Not planning to let it, but I'd like to know what I'm depending on before I build more on top of it.

Sensible thing to check before building. Your strategies and your recorded data are files on your own machine — they don't disappear, and they aren't held hostage. What a lapsed license affects is the ability to run live trading and the server-side features. Reactivating restores access to those without you needing to rebuild anything. If you ever want a copy of your work outside the app, everything lives under your data folder and can be backed up like any other files.

Good answer. "Your work is yours" is the only acceptable answer to that question and I'm glad it's the one given.

Fair enough, but how would we actually verify that ourselves? I'd want to know where the files physically live on disk and whether they're readable outside the app. If I can open my strategy definitions and logs with a text editor, that's proof. Has anyone poked around the folder structure?

The part I'd want spelled out is what happens to open positions the moment it lapses. Files sitting on disk is fine, an unmanaged position isn't.

Been through a lapse once during a break, picked it back up later and everything was still there. Just don't assume anything is babysitting your orders while it's off.

Dumb question maybe — does the recorded history keep filling up while the license is lapsed, or does the data collection stop too? Trying to figure out if I'd have a gap in my training data if I ever paused for a bit.
