What premarket volume does and doesn't tell you
I use it as a filter, not a signal.
What it tells me reliably: whether anyone cares about this name today. A symbol with no premarket interest usually stays uninteresting, and that's useful for cutting a watchlist down.
What it doesn't tell me: direction. I've watched heavy premarket buying resolve downward often enough to stop reading intent into it. Volume says "there is a story here," not "the story ends well."
So: filter with it, don't trade on it.
