I tested my emergency plan for the first time and it didn't work

Had a plan: if the app dies, log into the broker directly and close everything by hand. Tried it as a drill on a quiet Friday. Took me four minutes to find the password, another two to get through a verification step I'd forgotten existed, and by then I'd have been sitting in an unmanaged position for six minutes. Nothing was at risk because I was testing. That's the whole point of testing. The plan is now: credentials accessible, verification pre-completed, and I've done the drill twice more since.
