Your broker is a counterparty, not a utility
People treat the broker connection like electricity, it's just there, and if it isn't, someone will fix it.
It's a business with its own incentives, maintenance windows, policy changes, and occasional bad days. Over the years I've had connections change behavior after an update I didn't read about, and had a perfectly good strategy underperform for a month because of a routing change nobody announced loudly.
None of that is scandal. It's just the nature of depending on someone else's system. Build as though the thing you're plugged into will change without asking you, because eventually it will.
