A journal field attached to each trade

One text box per trade, filled in after the fact. What I was thinking, what I noticed, whether I nearly intervened. The reason it should live with the trade rather than in a separate document is that a separate document never gets reread. If the note is right there when I review the trade list, I'd actually use it — and after a few months I'd have my reasoning attached to outcomes, which is the thing I currently have to reconstruct. Even better if it's searchable and exportable.

The "separate document never gets reread" observation is exactly right and applies to most journaling advice.

Searchable is the part that turns it from a diary into data.

Noted and passed on. No timeline I can promise, and honestly the export/search side is more work than the text box itself, so if it ships it'd likely be the plain note first. Question for you though. Do you want the note editable later, or locked once written? Changes the design a lot.

Ohhh yes and let me add: a tag would be huge!! Like just 3-4 preset words you tap, "chased", "early", "held right". Free text is great but when I'm hot I'm not typing paragraphs, I'll type nothing at all!

Fair idea, though I'd bet money most of these boxes end up filled with "good setup" on the winners and blank on the losers. That's the whole reason the separate doc dies too, it's not the friction, it's that nobody wants to write down the ugly one. If you can actually make yourself fill it in after the bad trades it'll be worth more than any indicator you've ever loaded.
