No. And this is important, so thank you for asking before you needed it. Positions live at your broker, not in the app. Closing the app stops the strategy from managing them, but the position stays open exactly as it was. Any exit logic that runs inside the app (time exits, profit targets evaluated locally) will not fire while the app is closed. Before shutting down mid-session, either flatten deliberately or make sure you have a protective order resting at the broker.
Worth separating two things: an exit that lives in the app and an exit that lives at the broker. Only the second one survives you closing anything. If you're relying on app-side logic, your real risk window is however long your device is off.
Learned this the ugly way when my phone died on a train. Position was fine, nothing dramatic happened, but I spent 40 minutes not knowing and that's when I do my worst thinking. Closed it at a bad price out of pure relief.
- app closed = no management, position unchanged
- broker-side stop = only thing that runs regardless
- check which one you actually have before you need it
Ha, I asked this exact thing my first month! Good instinct to ask early instead of at 2am with a position on. The app is the driver, not the car, car keeps rolling.
